St Michael’s

Spiritual Wellbeing

At St Michael’s School, spirituality is at the heart of who we are. As a Christian school with an Anglican ethos, we want every girl to know that she is a spiritual being, loved by God, and encouraged to grow in faith and in character.

Our worship and traditions are rooted in the Anglican Church, yet we warmly welcome girls from other faiths and denominations, honouring their beliefs while inviting them to share in our life together. All girls take part in chapel services and assemblies, which are an important part of our community life.

Each school day begins with a chapel assembly. These moments of worship, prayer, and reflection on scripture help us to pause, find encouragement, and set the tone for the day ahead. Our side chapel is always open as a quiet space for prayer and reflection, where girls can step aside from the business of school life.

Sunday mornings are set aside for worship, usually in the form of Morning Prayer, Service of the Word, or the Eucharist. Once a term, we celebrate a special combined service with our brother school, St Andrew’s, strengthening the bond between our two schools. Girls who wish to prepare for confirmation may do so here at school, and every year we celebrate a joyful Confirmation Service for our Grade 10–12 learners.

Spiritual life at St Michael’s is also about service. Through the Carer’s Club, the Christian Fellowship Group, and the Chapel Servers’ Guild, girls are encouraged to live out their faith by serving others, building friendships, and making a positive difference in their community.

Our School Chaplain, Rev. Grant Trewern, is always available for pastoral guidance, counselling, or simply a listening ear. In addition, our Guardian Learner Programme ensures that every girl feels supported, cared for, and part of the St Michael’s family.

At St Michael’s, we hope to nurture young women who are not only confident and capable, but also compassionate, courageous, and ready to serve
