As we look back on 150 years of history, we celebrate not just a school but a legacy of excellence, empowerment, and community that has stood the test of time.
Tonight, we honour our past, celebrate our present, and look forward with great anticipation to the future. Therefore, in this year particularly, we think of and thank all those who have gone before us, in particular our founder Bishop Allan Becher Webb, a man of great ideas, a vision far beyond the present, but most of all a man with a steadfast and unwavering faith for the founding of this, our beloved St Michael’s.
We think of all the Mother Superiors, Mothers Emma, Frances, Mary Ursula, Mary Ruth, and Doreen Mary, who in history past have steered the school through the good times but also through insurmountable difficulties, ever upholding the ethos and the wide intellectual life. We think of all the Headmistresses, Headmasters, and later Principals and Staff, past and present, all who are giving of their best to make St Michael’s School for Girls a power for good.
