CURRICULUM
St Michael’s School for Girls is committed to providing quality education to all learners. This commitment is reflected in the school’s outstanding academic record, with a 100% matric pass rate achieved consistently over the past 45 years. The school offers all learning areas as prescribed by the Free State Department of Education in accordance with the CAPS curriculum up to Grade 9.
Grade 4-9:
Llearners must make a decision whether they are taking Afrikaans First Additional Language or SeSotho First Additional Language.
Subject Choices:
Gr 9 learners do aptitude tests at the end of Term 2 to assist them with their subject choices. An educational psychologist will discuss the results with them in Term 3 before they make their final choice. Gr 11s can change subjects until March.
Grades 10 to 12:
Learners may select from a wide range of subjects, allowing the school to accommodate diverse interests and career aspirations. The subject package is carefully structured to ensure that every Grade 12 learner is afforded the opportunity to achieve a Bachelor’s pass, enabling admission to university.

Agreements
I acknowledge that St Michael’s is a fee-paying school in terms of the applicable legislation and that the payment of school fees is compulsory. I therefore accept an obligation to contribute financially towards the education the learner will receive, which liability may be enforced by due process of law in the event of non-payment. In terms of Section 40(1) of the South African Schools Act No. 84 of 1996, both parents are responsible for the payment of tuition fees, and the parent(s) or guardian acknowledge that responsibility for payment is joint and several, meaning that payment by one parent does not exempt the other. I further acknowledge that my marital status, relationship with my spouse, or any maintenance order does not relieve me of my obligations under this agreement, and that I remain responsible for the payment of my child(ren)’s tuition fees regardless of my personal circumstances, as the school is not a party to such matters. Should my account with St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein be overdue for a period exceeding ninety (90) days, the school may initiate legal action to recover the outstanding amount and may claim fees for the entire year. In terms of Section 41(1) of the South African Schools Act No. 84 of 1996, St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein is entitled to enforce the payment of tuition fees through legal procedures.

We hereby acknowledge that all information and documents accompanying this application are complete and correct in every aspect. Should any information be found to be incomplete, incorrect, misleading or corrupt, the school may cancel this application without further considerations.
We hereby fully accept the school’s code of conduct as well as any rules or regulations implemented by the school’s governing body. Furthermore, we accept that the learner(s) should adhere to the school’s disciplinary code from the day their academic career at St Michael’s School for Girls in Bloemfontein starts until the day their school career ends. We accept that the school and its staff will, with the utmost discretion, report to the parents/guardians with regard to academics, conduct, disciplinary transgressions, wellbeing and health as necessary.
We acknowledge that St Michael’s School for Girls, Bloemfontein has an Anglican History and that learners must attend the Chapel services.
We also authorize the school to follow the necessary procedures in case of illness, injury and/or any relevant medical incident.
